Gesture is the first ergonomic office chair designed to support our interactions with today's technologies. To design a new sitting experience, we stopped looking at chairs and started looking at people. Understanding posture at work and how the body naturally moves caused us to ask, “could a chair act as a system, just like the human body?” This question led us to rethink fundamentally how to design a chair. Designed for the way we work today, Gesture Ergonomic Office Chair supports the use of a large range of technologies and their associated sitting postures. Highly responsive, Steelcase Gesture is an ergonomic office chair engineered to adapt to fit people of all shapes and sizes, with intuitive adjustments to fine-tune the perfect fit.

3D LiveBack® and seat move as a synchronised system, moving with each user to provide continuous and persistent support.
360° armrests move just like the human arm, so that arms and shoulders remain supported when texting on a smartphone, typing on a keyboard or swiping a tablet.

Does Gesture include a headrest?

You can opt for a height adjustable headrest for Gesture. Just tick the "with headrest" box on the Gesture product page to add the headrest. Unfortunately, the headrest cannot be retrofitted after purchase.

What height and body weight is Gesture best suited for?

The Gesture weight limit was tested up to 160 Kg and is best suited for users with body heights ranging from 150 cm to 190 cm.

How is seat height measured?

Our task chairs follow the EN 1335-1:2020 standard. Seat height is measured using a CMD (chair measuring device), which determines height based on seat angle. Depending on the angle of the seat the seat height will be measured at different points on the chair. Because of this, at-home measurements may differ from official dimensions.
